MD Helicopters, Inc. (MDHI), APSCON Booth #637, will proudly display Oxford Police’s fully loaded law enforcement MD 530F during the Airborne Public Safety Association’s (APSA) annual convention and expo (APSCON) July 26-31 in New Orleans. Additionally, MDHI will offer demonstration flights in its enhanced glass cockpit MD 530F demo aircraft.
Based in Oxford, Alabama, the Oxford Police Aviation Support Unit’s primary mission is supporting ground officers and its Emergency Services Unit with its two well equipped helicopters. The aviation unit also has mutual aid agreements for airborne law enforcement services with several agencies throughout central and eastern Alabama. In addition, the unit supports the FBI and other state and federal task forces, providing surveillance for ongoing investigations.
Demonstration Flights
Throughout the show, MDHI will offer the opportunity for attendees to experience the enhanced glass cockpit MD 530F’s power and performance firsthand. Pre-scheduling is highly encouraged due to limited availability.
The MD 530F is the latest model in the proven single-engine line, delivering increased operational capabilities, greater mission versatility, and superior performance. The updated helicopter incorporates an optional advanced NVIS cockpit designed to enhance safety during nighttime patrol, surveillance, and tactical operations. The enhanced certified glass cockpit features the Garmin G500 TXi Electronic Flight Instruments (EFIS), Howell Instruments Electronic Engine Instruments and Crew Alert Systems (EICAS), and Garmin GTN 750 Touchscreen NAV/COM/GPS.
